This is the beginning of my new blog about classic movies, and the character actors and movie stars who appeared in them.
I grew up watching movies whenever I could - on television, in theaters and on projection screens. Anyone who knows me, knows of my love for movies, though they may not understand why. I no longer feel the need to explain why I collect and watch movies, sometimes over and over again. Some people collect stamps or coins, I collect films on videotape or dvds. I have my favorites - movies about trains, sisters, old dark houses or fathers.
As much as I've followed the lives and deaths of movie stars, I am as fascinated with the lives of supporting or character actors whose careers were built by playing devoted mothers, loyal friends, perpetual career men and women, taciturn father or shady businessmen in film after film after film.
I want to salute them and explore their careers in this blog, and celebrate the joy I've found in watching their movies.
